Circa Feb 2005 to Dec 2005

It’s been a while since I got to writing here – and of course, I have a slew of excuses at aim at anyone who wants to know. :D

So ok, let’s fill the gaps from circa Feb 2005 to Dec 2005 of my adventure…

Feb to Sep 05
The time of my freelancing life! Life wasn’t all that simple, but it wasn’t unmanageable either… so many things happened in this time:

I worked on different projects – from plain simple user guides to content, marketing collateral, website content, FAQ generated in RoboHelp… Now, the last one was the most interesting.

Met so many people who made a lot of difference to my life; missed meeting a few others – don’t know how much of a difference that makes.

Missed out on the ‘regular’ social scene to the extent that I’ve felt like Robinson Crusoe sometimes. Would need to thank the few understanding souls who gave me the time and space to complete my work commitments.

Did a lot of things I didn’t think I would do, and then some! Maybe on the flip side, possibly didn’t do some things I should have! :D

Won some, lost some.

Learnt the art of negotiation, specially for the things that matter most.

Realized that contacts you never thought much of could turn out the best network contacts you’ve ever made, for work that is.

Looking back, I’d only say that I learnt some valuable lessons that only life and experience teach, nothing the books talk about and surely what they don’t teach you in B Schools [ah, am just borrowing a phrase, so don’t die and go to heaven on that one :)]

While my brain and stamina found 16+ hour days and work were completely engrossing and challenging, my health couldn’t handle the stress :) and so have had to put things on a hold. Putting my feet up – well, has been really difficult and my hands itch for the kind of pace and variety of work I handled…

So here I am, back to being a 10-7 kind of ‘employee’ - liking it in bits, but not sure I’d be happy this way too long :)
